Cantina De'Ricci (2015 SorAldo)
In a document dated 789, quoted by Emanuele Repetti in "Dizionario Geografico Fisico Storico della Toscana", the cleric Arnipert offers to the Church of San Silvestro in Lanciniano (Amiata area), farmland and a vineyard located in the Castello di Polizziano; another document of 17 October 1350, also mentioned by Repetti, lays down the terms for trade and export of a wine produced in the Montepulciano area.
In 1685 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is also mentioned by the poet Francesco Redi, who, in addition to praising the work of Bacchus in Tuscany (Montepulciano is the king of all wines!), wrote an ode to Count Federico Veterani dedicated exclusively to praise of the qualities of this wine.
The wine produced in Montepulciano continued to be appreciated, and over time it obtained the DOC Denominazione di Origine Controllata (Denomination of Controlled Origin) DOCG with DPR July 12, 1966. The DOCG Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano was authorized by DPR July 1, 1980 and modified by DM July 27, 1999, making it one of the first wine to attain this prestige in Italy.

Tuscan cuisine is known throughout the world for simple, traditional, Italian food using fresh, all-natural, local ingredients. At Tuscany Specialty Foods and Catering in Marlboro and Manalapan, New Jersey, our goal is to bring the quality and tradition of Italy to everything we sell, bake, or prepare.
Ask anyone who has traveled to this small Italian region and they will agree that the components of Tuscan dishes are meticulously chosen and assembled to compliment and accentuate one another.
Since 1997, Tuscany has been providing these same traditional values to our community. You will find fresh, natural, and local produce and meats, skillfully prepared Italian dishes from Venice to Sicily, and the personal service you would expect from a family-owned establishment.
Tuscans spend their time eating, talking about food or eating while talking about food. Tuscans are very verbal about their favorite recipes, restaurant or pizza. But in the end nothing beats their grandma’s food. As soon as the good weather starts, it’s time to go to a sagra to eat affordable and seasonal food and meet with the local community. These food festivals are often run by volunteers and have a casual family-like atmosphere. Most Tuscans are meat eaters, nothing beats a good steak or a lampredotto sandwich.
The landscape of Montepulciano, where every vista is more beautiful than the next, is like a scene from the history of Italy, which welcomes anyone who wants to visit or stay for good.
The hills surrounding Montepulciano are a unique setting for art, culture and incredible landscapes. Nowhere in the world can you find such a romantic and archaic panorama. Shapes and colors, fragrances and authentic products from this remarkable terrain recall flavors of another time.
Absolutely breathtaking experience with Villa Martiena and our hosts Giorgio and Simon! Communication before and during our travels was timely, efficient, Informative and very FUN! The accommodations were unbelievable and blew away our expectations. The Villa is an amazing place surrounded by the beautiful Tuscan landscape. The Villa has been restored and has been tastefully decorated. The main dining room is a place you can only experience in person. The arrival, departure and side trips we took: Venice, Florence, Cortona, Arezzo, Montalcino, Pienza, Siena, San Gimignano, and Montepulciano were professional organized, excellent day adventures, and flexible for us as a group. The food and wine experience was beyond words - simple breakfast daily, lunches at perfect spots during our day trips and dinners at the Villa were spectacular 4-5 course delights. This trip, the first for our family to Italy, exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend Villa Martiena stay, for any group event (ours was Tuscany wine visits).

We spent 10 days on a "Tuscany My Way" experience hosted by Giorgio and Simon. We were a group of about 22 members of an Oregon winery. I was very impressed by the beautiful villa and its proximity to town and by the organization of the excursions. Our room was large with amazing views from the windows. Each room has an ensuite bathroom and there is a lovely shared patio outside overlooking a wonderful outdoor pool and the famous tuscan landscape. Our group dinners in the villa were prepared by a local chef on site and included wine brought personally by local wine makers. This trip is a great value and definitely one I would do again.

True experience of a lifetime. I got the hustle and bustle of Italian life catching connecting trains to destinations. The beauty of each town from land and sea. Tuscan history along the way gives you an appreciation for the vast land mass. The food, the food, the food and the wine This is where tradition is slowly adding technology and maintaining the integrity of this nectar of the gods. Each town has its unique beauty and story. Our hosts made this an incredible Italian journey that words cannot do it justice.
